The contributed rake method only takes those players into account who put money into the pot one way or another. If you are dealt cards and then fold without posting a compulsory bet (blind) or a voluntary one, you earn zero rake contribution and zero rakeback.
If you do put money into the pot pre flop then you will be allotted an equal amount of rake contribution with all the other active players.
The Contributed Rake Method is an improvement in fairness over the Dealt Rake Method, as it awards rake and rakeback to those players who are active in the hand and does not just give rakeback to players who have folded. But that does not mean it is good for your rakeback deals as all poker players have a different style that effects their own rakeback payments.
